Top Whistler Wedding Venues
A guide to Whistler’s best Wedding venues.
Ah Whistler, the mountain town that has been home for the past 13 years. A town once only known for skiing, has now become a 4 seasons resort, catering to the outdoor enthusiasts as well as those looking to escape for a little R&R. Whether it be biking, hiking, golf, lazing by one of the many lakes, or relaxing at the Scandinave Spa, this town seems to attract all walks of life. It’s no wonder it has become a world renowned destination wedding location. Over the years, I have had the opportunity to photograph at almost all the venues. Here is a curated guide of the top Whistler wedding venues, listed from South to North.
Whistler Wedding Venues:
- Brew Creek Center
- Whistler Olympic Park
- Nita Lake Lodge
- Dusty’s Bar & BBQ
- Whistler Blackcomb
- Audain Art Museum
- Fairmont Chateau Whistler
- Squamish Lil’wat Cutltural Centre (SLCC)
- Whistler Sliding Center
1. Brew Creek Centre – Sadly, the Brew Creek is no longer booking weddings. An all inclusive venue tucked away within the lush rain forest. Just a 20 minute drive south of the Whistler Village, this venue allows you to make a weekend of your event. Accommodations, incredible catered meals, and bar service included, this place does not disappoint. Beautifully landscaped grounds, and a farm garden and geodesic growing dome allows them to grow much of their produce year round making them an incredibly sustainable venue.
2. Whistler Olympic Park – 30 minutes south of Whistler village, up the Callaghan Valley, lies the Whistler Olympic Park. It’s known for being one of the 2010 Winter Olympics venues where ski jumping, xc skiing and the biathlon events took place. Surrounded by stunning mountain views, this venue has gorgeous outdoor ceremony locations, and the lodge has floor to ceiling windows so you can take in the breath taking views.
3. Nita Lake Lodge – This might be one of my favourite Whistler wedding venues. Nita Lake is a boutique hotel, located in Creekside Village, on Nita Lake. This is the only hotel in Whistler located directly on the lake. It has 2 excellent outdoor ceremony locations, and a newly updated ballroom for receptions. The service and food are incredible, and it offers great options for when the weather just isn’t on our side. Check out this Nita Lake Lodge blog.
3. Dusty’s Bar & BBQ – Located in Creekside Village, this is one of the original Whistler apres spots. If you haven’t been here for apres to listen to The Hairfarmers while snacking on their potato wedges with butt rub mayo (if you know you know), then I highly suggest you do so.
5. Whistler Blackcomb – This one is a no brainer. Whistler Blackcomb provides multiple on mountain venues, from a new deck overlooking the Whistler valley, to multiple reception spaces, to unique elopement ceremony locations for those that want to get a bit adventurous. Eloping with just a few of you? Why not take a Jeep tour up Blackcomb Mountain for sunset. Can you think of more incredible place to get married? Are you into the idea of hiking to get to unique scenic locations? Why not hike along the High Note trail to say your vows among the wild flowers in the summer. Or are you having a large guest list? Then the Roundhouse or Rendez-Vous are both great options to hold all your family and friends. An incredible option for both summer and winter weddings. Check out this Whistler Mountain elopement blog.
6. Audain Art Museum – In the heart of the Whistler Village, lies this stunning museum. What an architectural treat this venue is. Modern with interesting and unique architectural lines, this Whistler venue gives somewhat of an urban feel while allowing you to incorporate nature at the same time. A must see!
7. Fairmont Chateau Whistler – A Whistler classic. The Fairmont hotel chain is world renowned for their 5 star amenities. Located in the upper Village, this venue has multiple venue options, from their Roof Top Chapel, the Mountain View Lawn or the Chalet, catering to intimate elopements, micro weddings, or to those weddings with a large guest list. Check this out this Fairmont Chateau Whistler blog.
8. Squamish Lil’wat Cultural Centre (SLCC) – Whistler sits on the traditional territory of the Squamish (Sk̲wx̲wú7mesh) and Lil’wat (L̓il̓wat7úl) Nations. This incredible venue was built as a collaboration between the two Nations, who wish to preserve, grow and share their traditional cultures. The building has 3 levels, with options to rent all 3, depending on the size of your wedding. The Mezzanine offers an outdoor oasis, the Grand Hall is surrounded by floor to ceiling windows to take in the views , while the circular Itsken Room has wrap around windows and beautiful wooden beams. A gorgeous forest is steps away as well as the Fitzsimmons Creek.
9. Whistler Sliding Center – Another 2010 Olympic Venue, this is the heart of the Bobsleigh and Luge track. On the south east side of Blackcomb Mountain, this venue has incredible views of the Whistler valley, especially at sunset. Just minutes away from the village, this venue has the space for a large tented reception, or enjoy the large covered deck.
Whistler isn’t the only well known spot within the Sea to Sky for weddings. Both Pemberton & Squamish have become popular wedding destinations as well. Here are both my Pemberton & Squamish venue recommendations.
Pemberton Wedding Venues
1. Big Sky Golf Course – A stunning golf course at the foot of Mt. Currie with an epic backdrop for any wedding. Receptions are held in a beautiful dining room built from wooden beams, while cocktail hour is on the outdoor patio so you can take in the views. Dancing is typically outside on the patio under a roof made of grape vines. The food is divine!
2. North Arm Farm – This working farm is incredibly popular. As most venues in Pemberton, it’s views of Mt. Currie are stunning! Maybe more so here then anywhere else. The ever popular choice is a long table dinner reception, in the field, followed by a dance party in the barn. This place speaks for itself. Check out this North Arm Farm blog for more.
3. Riverlands Red Barn – Riverlands Weddings and Events has several different ceremony and reception locations. The most popular is the Red Barn. This venue dresses up well! I have seen some incredible different decor set ups, and wow. Stunning views of Mt. Currie once again, but there a bit more pulled back. Check this riverlands blog
4. Drumkeeran House – I love this place. A stunning lakefront mountain lodge, this house sits on Ivey Lake in Pemberton. My favourite photos are taken from the lake, while couples paddle around in a canoe, to take in the views of Mt. Currie. This venue caters to smaller weddings. Rent it for the week, for you and your families to really make a retreat of the festivities.
Squamish Wedding Venues
1. The Sea to Sky Gondola – The iconic gondola that overlooks the Howe Sound and Squamish Valley. Beautiful trails wind through the rain forest, a gorgeous suspension bridge and multiple viewing platforms allow for some breathtaking photos. Sadly this venue is out of commission due to an incredibly unfortunate scenario, but it will re-open in the spring sometime.
2. Sunwolf – One of my all time favourite venues. Situated on a forested piece of land, beside a river, with cute little cabins for your guests to sleep. This Squamish venue also has room for campers and excellent bathroom facilities, making it another amazing location to turn your wedding into a weekend celebration. It’s gorgeous, the food is amazing, and if I had decided to have a big wedding, this would have been my pick. Check this out this Sunwolf blog
3. Sitka Farms – Squamish’s newest wedding venue. A 20 minute drive from town, up the Squamish Valley is this hidden gem. A rustic barn, plenty of room for a tented reception, and the Squamish River just a quick 10 minute walk through the mossy lush rainforest that is their backyard. This venue has ample opportunity for a unique experience. Why not glamp in Wildhavens canvas tents, or have Ramblin Rose Bar & Co. whip you up some delicious cocktails in this beautiful setting. Check this Sitka Farms blog for more.
