Blackcomb Mountain Elopement | Juliana & Keenan

Up on the blog today, is this incredible Blackcomb Mountain elopement.

Juliana & Keaton were meant to have a large wedding, but COVID. They re-avaluated, and decided that instead of postponing, they would elope. These two chose to do something a little unorthodox, then your typical elopement. They celebrated 3 different times, each a little differently.

Their first and legal elopement, was on Jericho Beach, with their parents present. This is where they officially became husband and wife, on a warm sunny day in October day. From there, they went over and spent some time in Tofino and Ukee, where they got to soak in the salty air, the sounds of the crashing waves on the beaches, and that lush mossy rain forest. They had more wedding photos taken there, before making the journey back to the mainland, and then up to Whistler.

We met on a sunny day at the end of October. Snow had fallen to the valley a few days prior, bringing winter a little earlier than expected. The weather gods were on our side and delivered us an absolutely perfect day.

We took a Jeep tour with Canadian Wilderness up to the top of Blackcomb Mountain. What I loved about this experience, is the tour they booked was 3 hours long. This allowed us time to get out and snap photos at several different locations on the mountain, giving a bit of variety to the landscapes. We were also able to plan the trip based around when the sun would be setting. That way, we could be in the alpine for sunset, which isn’t something you have the opportunity to do very often. Let me tell you, it is magic! As the sun began to set, J & K read each other personal vows. They had read the standard vows in front of their parents, but they saved these for this moment, on top of a mountain at sunset.

These two now have wedding photos from Jericho Beach, Tofino and Whistler. 3 epic locations, 3 separate and unique celebrations.

I love the flexibility of elopements, that we have the opportunity to plan things around when the light is best. I know for my own elopement, that was what was most important for me when it came to the photography. Good light! Of course we can’t control what the weather brings, but planning for this is something I highly suggest. That’s what we did for J & K’s Blackcomb Mountain elopement, and I’m so glad we did.
