Joffre Lake Engagement Session | Meriel & Will

I’ve been meaning to post this for sometime. Recently, as we’ve all been grappling with our current state of the world, I, as many others, have been given all the time in the world. So here is this beautiful Joffre Lake engagement session, one happy day, back over the Christmas holidays.

I met Meriel & Will at a North Arm Farm wedding in Pemberton, last August. These two were a riot. When they asked me to photograph their upcoming wedding this summer, as I was stoked.

We met over the Christmas holidays for their engagement session. We were going to meet in Pemberton, but the valley had the thickest fog lingering that day. So thick you could hardly see any trees. Given that there was absolutely no depth, I took a chance and asked them to meet me at Joffre Lake, hoping that we could get above that low lying cloud. Luck was on our side. We popped up above the clouds, to an almost clear sky. The trees were absolutely caked with fresh snow, which gave it that perfect winter wonderland feel. The first lake was frozen, allowing us to venture out onto the ice for some fun photos with a view of the glacier. Little did I know, that Will had intentionally planned on proposing to Meriel at Joffre Lake, so it was actually quite a meaningful location to select for this photography session.

After an hour or so of frolicking in the snow, we left for our cars. Pretty sure we all had soaked feet and jeans, but it was definitely worth it. I don’t get to venture up their too often anymore given how crowded the park gets. This day was perfect though, and made me want to photograph more Joffre Lake engagement sessions. Who’s next?
