Squamish Engagement Session | Chanel & Kenny
RAD – An abbreviation of ‘radical’–a term made popular by the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Still primarily used by people on the West Coast who find words like ‘cool’, ‘awesome’, and ‘tight’ to be tired and overused; ‘rad’ is generally considered to be a much higher praise than the aforementioned superlatives. Also used as a general expression of awe. – Urban Dictionary
Chanel & Kenny are two Whistler locals that are the definition of rad. These two get after it. In the summer they rip the track on their dirt bikes, skateboard or wake surf behind boats. In the winter, these two spend the majority of their days snowboarding on either of our two local mountains, Whistler and Blackcomb. When it’s not powing, these two shred the park. They are kind, fun, and totally in love.
Chanel works in the Whistler wedding industry helping the Whistler Wedding Pastor, Jeremy, with admin and planning. This of course is how we met. She asked me for a beer last winter, and we’ve been friends ever since.
Kenny got a beautiful ring made from one of Chanel’s favourite jewellers, and asked her dad for permission for her hand in marriage, a gesture he knew would be of importance.
The other week, these two adventured with me for what would be this beautiful Squamish engagement session. It was a warm, sunny day, one of the few we’ve had in the past month. We found a little beach along the Squamish River, nestled amongst the coastal mountains of the Sea to Sky that we call home. Their 3 year old dog, Sitka, and 3 month old puppy, Lilo, joined, which always makes me jump with joy, given that I love dogs. We drank beer while we waited for the sun to lower in the sky, and then frolicked on the beach barefoot. It ended with them stripping down to their birthday suits. A relaxed, fun and adventurous engagement session, exploring places we hadn’t been.
