Chateau Whistler Wedding | Zoe & Nate
Micro weddings, for couples considering the more simplified planning process with 50 guests or less. Currently in British Columbia, it is prohibited to have gatherings over 50 people, as the world grapples with a global pandemic. Many who have planned their weddings, are having to postpone until next year. Some are still choosing to proceed, while downsizing the guest list to keep their numbers low. I will say, the Plan B’s for those going ahead, sound incredible and I’m super excited to photograph them.
I decided I wanted to a showcase a micro wedding from this past February, before the world was put on pause. Zoe & Nathan brought 25 of their closest people over from the UK, to celebrate this incredible day with them, here in Whistler. They chose a destination wedding, as they love skiing, the mountains, and come here to enjoy the snow often.
The Fairmont Chateau Whistler was the venue for this intimate wedding. Their ceremony took place at the rooftop Wedding Chapel. A beautiful and emotional ceremony, officiated by Jeremy, The Whistler Wedding Pastor.
It was a gorgeous winter day, perfect for their planned helicopter ride. We flew up to the Rainbow Glacier with Blackcomb Helicopters. It was Zoe’s first time in a heli. A touch nervous at the beginning, within a few minutes her eyes were tearing with happiness as she took in her surroundings, the day, and her newly married status. It was cold and windy on the glacier, even in the sun. These two braved the elements for the short duration we were there, before returning back to the valley for a few more golden hour portraits.
We returned to the Chateau Whistler for their cocktail reception, followed by a beautiful dinner in the private Grill Room. Erin from Bliss Events out did herself as usual with the decor. Her weddings are always lavishly put together.
This gorgeous winter wedding, had a small guest count, but it by no means made it any less special than those big weddings. Each couple and their vision is different, and there is not right or wrong as to how people want to celebrate. I loved being apart of this day, and am so thankful Covid had not hit BC yet so these two were able to have their dream wedding day.
