Whistler Sunrise Engagement Session | Rachel & Clark

These two met me bright and early here in Whistler for a sunrise engagement session last September. Rachel is a hobbyist landscape photographer, and therefore has a great sense of the importance of light. It was her idea to meet before the sun peaked above the mountains, to take advantage of the beautiful morning sun. I’m so thankful we did. It was absolutely freezing, but I LOVE the friggin’ light. Bearing the chilly wind and icy cold hands was totally worth it. I’m telling you, light plays such an important part of your photographs. When you can plan your session around when the light is nicest, you won’t regret it. That’s why I always make the suggestion for earlier or later in the day for your photography sessions.

Since this initial session with these two, I’ve had the pleasure of getting to know them quite a bit more, through emails, phone calls, and meetings. When they found out my partner and I were planning a trip to Iceland, they shared their very detailed Iceland itinerary with me (which I used a heck of a lot on our trip). They are the absolute sweetest individuals, and I’m hopeful that I will have the pleasure of calling them friends long after their wedding takes place.

This weekend, these two are getting married at North Arm Farm in Pemberton with an incredible vendor lineup to make their vision come to reality. After what I imagine will be a jam packed 6 days in town, these two take off to the Maldives for their honeymoon. Sounds glorious.
